It is that time of the year again. Everybody is getting their beach body ready and planning for holiday. When it comes to prepping your skin for holiday there are a few treatments to recommend, product alternatives and must haves.
We usually recommend when you are going to be in the sun to stop using your Retinoid (Retinol, Retinoic acid ester, Retinoic acid) a few days before. Retinoids make the skin more sun sensitive, so we want to avoid that. Leave your Retinoids at home and pick it up again a week or two after you are home.
There are so many nourishing products that would be better to go on holiday with you. Non Retinol skin brighteners will be a great alternative to prevent hyper-pigmentation while on holiday. It can be used twice a day for maximum benefit. Vit C Serums fight free radical damage and protect against UV rays. It is also a potent skin brightener.
A must have while on holiday is a smart sunblock for face and body. Spf50 and higher is recommended and should be reapplied every 2-5 hours. Sunscreen mineral brushes makes for an easy reapplication so make sure to check these out. Tinted sunblocks can also be a great alternative to foundations on holiday. Should your eye area be of specific concern you can also look at using an eye specific product that contains a full spectrum sunscreen.
After-sun products will be calming, hydrating, and healing. Aloe masks and gels would be a great to have for in case it might be needed.
Being outdoors all day may cause your skin to feel dry or dehydrated. Learn to love moisturising during your holiday and use moisturising serums and creams containing Hyaluronic acid and Ceramides.
When on holiday we have more time for pampering our skin so make sure to use a masque 1-3x per week. There are so many options from a sheet mask, gel mask, cream mask and clay mask. Take the time to treat your skin on holiday.
Lastly, you may want to book with your skincare therapist 1-2 weeks before going on holiday for a hydrating treatment. Make sure to tint your lashes and eyebrows and shape your brows. Dermaplaning can help to remove superficial dead skin and facial hair that can be more visible when outside in sunlight. Deeper skincare treatments such as strong chemical peels, deep micro needling and laser treatments are not advised.
Nothing looks and feels as good as confidence. Be holiday ready and make the most of your holiday skincare routine.
